Guess what's turning 150 years old? The Lake County Courthouse! This historic building in downtown Lakeport was designed by A. P. Pettit in 1871 and served as the seat of county government until 1968 when the new courthouse was built behind it. Now home to a museum (currently closed) of local artifacts, it is a registered landmark in the state of California. Such a cool piece of our local story! Be sure to stop and admire this grand old building on your next trip to Lakeport.

Have you followed the Lake County Mural Trail? Sponsored by Lake County Rural Arts Initiative, these inspired large format murals on buildings around the county are painted by talented local artists (like this one by Michael & Violet Divine in Clearlake, CA). Themes range from natural resources, culture, history and more. This one pays tribute to our title as “Best Bass Fishing Lake in the U.S.”
You can drive by these beautiful works of art and admire them without leaving your vehicle. The interactive mural map will lead the way! https://lcrai.org/mural-trail/
