Anglers enjoy fly fishing, bow fishing, sport fishing, recreational fishing, fishing derbies, and fishing tournaments at many lakes and reservoirs in the county. Known as the Bass Capital of the West, Clear Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake: elevation 1,326 feet; 43,785 surface acres; depths up to 60 feet; average depth is 28 feet; average temperature is 61 degrees Fahrenheit; prevailing winds, mild westerly. Fog infrequent. Fishing Season 365 days per year. Each year more than 25 fishing tournaments take place on Clear Lake. Largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, rainbow trout, and carp are among the catches from area lakes and reservoirs. Have you purchased your fishing license?
