Bureau of Land Management natural resource specialists lead guided four-mile hikes. Enjoy the scenery of Cache Creek canyon where eagles, tule elk, osprey, and other wildlife may be seen. The first mile consists of a 600-foot climb. All participants should wear sturdy hiking boots and dress for cold weather. Bring water, lunch, and binoculars. This fundraising event for the Clear Lake State Park Interpretive Association features a delicious create-your-own-omelet accompanied by pastries, fruit and coffee. This fun, family-oriented day features birding and nature walks, exhibits, and music. During the day, CLSPIA members lead hikes throughout the Park, give presentations in the auditorium, and lead tours of Visitor Center exhibits. Admission is free. Fee for omelet brunch. This fun, family-oriented event features pontoon boat tours, nature talks and exhibits, arts and crafts vendors, and children’s activities that will inspire the whole family. Ninety-minute pontoon boat bird-watching excursions are held between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Reservations are required for pontoon boat ride only. Nominal fee for pontoon boat ride. Bird sightings usually include American white pelicans, grebes, yellow-headed blackbirds, and the festival’s namesake, the great blue heron. A naturalist will be aboard to point out some of the area’s 300+ bird species and lake features. Presented by the Redbud Audubon Society. Free admission to the festival.
